Competitive tennis isn’t just for kids or professionals. Elysium tennis is home to 33 men’s and women’s United States Tennis Association (USTA) competitive adult teams, all of whom are excited to scratch that competitive itch in a friendly environment.
“What’s not to like?” says Rica Sommer, who plays on four Elysium USTA teams. “The coaches are fun and are always working towards helping us improve our tennis game. I’ve made tons of friends through playing on teams at Elysium, and the club is the best in Columbus for playing and watching matches”
At Elysium, USTA teams receive high-level coaching with individualized clinics. In addition, all home matches and clinics are at Elysium’s premier facilities, and free warm-up courts are available before matches. Members even receive a reduced court rate when practicing with teammates. Elysium also provides a dedicated USTA coordinator to help facilitate any questions or support you may need.
“I think our teams have enjoyed success, but they also have a lot of fun,” explained Elysium’s USTA Coordinator Cynthia Humphry. “We give them lots of expert coaching, and our facilities are top-notch, but the real difference is the camaraderie amongst our teams. We ensure the clinics are informative yet fun, and many of our teams enjoy each other’s company off the courts. It’s a real team atmosphere that can be difficult to find anywhere else.”
The USTA program at Elysium offers weekly practice sessions and competitions against other clubs. The fall season runs from September through December, and the winter season is from January through May. Teams compete within their division and advance to Districts, State and Sectional tournaments. USTA determines a player’s ranking based on a player’s performance, and Elysium teams are available for all levels and ages.
